We're in Family Court

We found out yesterday that we have been in family court for awhile. We don't know the exact date we entered, but we're guessing somewhere around the 10th of April. Family Court is a fairly simple process. A social worker has an interview with the birthmother, much like what wold happen in the US with a domestic adoption. They are basically trying to ascertain her reasons for relinquishment. The social worker will then issue a report which is needed to enter PGN. Our birthmother interviews were done last week so we'll hopefully have the report in about a month or so. We also found out that the wait for embassy pre-approval has lengthened once again. They are now expecting it to be a 60 day wait for pre-approval of the visa. So the soonest we would enter the next phase of the court system, PGN, will be at least mid June.

We know that God has the timing all worked out on this, but it gets frustrating sometimes when you keep hearing of more delays. Especially when it's our government causing the delays! But we believe God opened this door for us, and what door God opens no one can shut. (Rev 3:8) So, Olivia may come home in six months or it may be a year, but we still believe she's coming home. We just weren't expecting our delays to come from this part of the process, but one thing you can count on with international adoption, is change. We knew that going into it and we are still more than willing to put up with it because the end result is so wonderful!!
